June 4 to June 8 was a busy week for the SWAT program (Students, Writers and Teachers). To tie up our first awesome semester, a few of our writers in residence gave readings at SWAT Schools. Catherine Graham read from her collection of poetry, Pupa, at Michael Power/St. Joseph. Zoe Whittall read from her hit novel, Bottle Rocket Hearts, at Notre Dame H.S. At Father John Redmond, Colin Frizzell shared a passage from his new novel, Just J. At Pope John Paul II, Krista Bridge read from The Virgin Spy.
The SWAT writers weren't the only ones sharing their work. Tons of student writers shared the work they created during this past semester: poetry, short stories, personal essays and reviews. Thanks to everyone who participated. Watch the Armadillo Online for student samples from the Reading Series. And don't forget to keep in touch with us here at SWAT and Now Hear This! We're here to help you with story ideas, editing, and just generally getting your work out there into the world. To see a slide show from the SWAT Reading Series, you can visit our flickr page. Cheers, The folks at Now Hear This!
