As you may already know, NOW HEAR THIS! is actually the child of some really lovely people over at the Descant Arts & Letters Foundation. A few years back they were sitting around and chatting about how to share some of their wonderful writers with the greater community ... and NOW HEAR THIS! was born. If you knew that, you probably also know that the Descant Arts & Letters Foundation is also the home of Canada's pre-eminent literary journal, Descant Magazine.

One of our awesome 2008 S.W.A.T. writers-in-residence, Moez Surani, will be premiering his much-anticipated first collection of poetry next week. That's right, on Wednesday September 30th, 2009 Moez will be reading from his collection Reticent Bodies, alongside Soraya Peerbaye. His poems have been described as "defining the epitome of Canada's ethnic layering". The event take place at 6:30 p.m. at Ben McNally Books (366 Bay Street, Toronto). We hope you can make it!
